Combining speed, technology, and immersive storytelling in a truly remarkable way, TRON Lightcycle / Run is a pulse-pounding adventure and high-stakes race across a computerized world.
What you will - and won't - find in this attraction
As you approach the attraction, you'll be awed by the sleek and futuristic architecture that perfectly complements the theme of the ride.
The ride design is particularly striking at night, as the tent-like roof is illuminated by bright blue and orange lights synchronized with the coaster.
The queue area is meticulously designed, featuring sleek lines, neon lighting, and an overall aesthetic that transports you into the world of TRON. The pre-show room, in which you're digitized into TRON, is a stunning moment that gives you a glimpse of the coaster's launch, and the thrills to come.
Once you board your lightcycle-inspired ride vehicle, you'll be prepared for an adrenaline-pumping adventure like no other. The ride vehicle itself is a technological marvel, resembling the iconic lightcycles from the TRON films. Its sleek and aerodynamic design, coupled with the cutting-edge ride system, ensures a smooth and thrilling ride experience.
As the ride begins, you'll be catapulted into a high-speed race through a neon-lit digital landscape. The combination of immersive audio, stunning visual effects, and synchronized lighting creates a truly mesmerizing experience. You'll feel the exhilaration as you zoom through twists, turns, and inversions, simulating the sensation of riding a lightcycle in the digital realm.
The immersive storytelling and attention to detail are evident throughout the entire ride. You'll encounter iconic scenes and characters from the TRON franchise, further enhancing the sense of immersion and excitement. The soundtrack, composed by the renowned electronic music duo Daft Punk, adds an extra layer of energy and pulse-pounding beats to the experience.
TRON Lightcycle / Run is one of the most intense attractions at Disney World.
The ride features high speeds, including a launch from zero to nearly 60 mph, as well as banked turns, sharp turns and sudden changes in direction. There aren't significant drops on this coaster, though.
The coaster's unique ride system, which simulates the experience of riding a lightcycle, involves a forward-leaning position that may cause discomfort or anxiety for those with a fear of heights or who prefer more traditional seating positions. There is an option for a traditional upright seat in the back of the coaster train, but as with other roller coasters, the back row can sometimes be just as intense as the front row. There is a test ride vehicle outside the attraction that you can try out before entering the queue.
Additionally, the immersive nature of the attraction, including the dark environments, flashing lights, and intense audiovisual effects, can contribute to a more intense sensory experience. This may potentially trigger motion sickness symptoms in sensitive individuals.
Insider tips: Just inside the pre-show area, you'll be asked to store loose items in a locker. This means anything besides your park ticket and cell phone goes inside the locker, including bags, sunglasses, hats and ears. There's a small storage container on the ride vehicle, basically large enough to store a cell phone and perhaps some sunglasses, but too small for a fanny pack. The lockers are free and your park ticket is your locker key. Consider taking a picture of your locker number so you don't have to remember it.
